South Austin Park Eco-restoration Project

At the March 25, 2024 meeting of the Galindo Neighborhood Association, the Park Committee announced a plan for a long-term invasive plant removal and eco-restoration project for South Austin Neighborhood Park.

As an Austin Parks Foundation (APF) park adopter, GENA will collaborate with our partners at APF, Austin Watershed Division and City of Austin Parks and Recreation Department. The project will also bring in the expertise of the Texas Conservation Corps and other local agencies.

The GENA membership voted unanimously on March 25th to commit up to $10,000 of existing funds from our Austin Parks Foundation Sponsored Fund Account (SPF) which is funded by volunteer hours, donations and grants. We will be submitting a proposal in the next APF grant cycle later this year to raise funds for this effort. The Ayers family; adopters of West Bouldin Creek through the Keep Austin Beautiful program, will also be contributing to this vital restoration project.

The GENA Parks Committee welcomes participation in the project planning and fundraising. We will keep the neighborhood informed of the progress of the project on the GENA website.
