South Austin Neighborhood Park: Updates

Galindo Neighborhood Association (GENA) has applied for a Community Activated Park Project (CAPP) with the Austin Parks and Recreation Department as a continuation of longterm eco-restoration projects and ongoing invasive non-native plant and tree eradication in South Austin Neighborhood Park.

Approval of the CAPP project application is required to continue eradication of the mature non-native ligustrums throughout the park which we had planned to resume on It’s My Park Day. Scheduling and signup information for the upcoming volunteer work sessions will be posted on the GENA.org site and on social media upon project approval by the city.

Following is a link to sign up for a family-friendly It’s My Park Day volunteer event scheduled by a Galindo neighbor and adopter of West Bouldin Creek with the Keep Austin Beautiful Adopt-a-Creek program. Volunteers will pick up trash along the environmentally sensitive creek which borders the west side of South Austin Neighborhood Park on Saturday March 2nd, from 9am to 11am.
