Next Community Meeting: Monday, January 27th at 7PM, South Austin Recreation Center.
November 18th Meeting Recap
Wow, what an amazing turnout at our latest neighborhood meeting! Nearly 60 neighbors made it to the November 18th meeting. It was so great to see so many of you come out, and I hope you got to meet a few new neighbors you didn’t know before.
We first heard an update from Officer Arlene Lozano who does night patrol in our sector (David sector). She answered questions, and provided safety tips and information on incidents that have happened recently in our area. If you would like to get in touch with Officer Lozano, please reach out to either Patty (president@gena.org) or Heather (communications@gena.org) for her contact information.
We then had a presentation from the representative for 600 Cumberland Road on the variances they will be requesting at the December 9th Board of Adjustments (BOA) meeting. If you would like to be an active part of the working group to prepare for the BOA meeting, please contact Patty directly at president@gena.org. We will also continue to keep you all updated via this website (gena.org), our Facebook group, and our e-mail list.
Our next general neighborhood meeting will be on January 27th. If you have speaker or agenda ideas, please contact us at communications@gena.org.
I’m not seeing anything up on the website about the 9 December meeting at City Hall regarding the 600 Cumberland Rd development, or updates about our interest in postponing the meeting until January. We would do well to get a big group at every City Hall meeting and this would be a great avenue to get the word out. This issue will affect all future development along the 1st St corridor into and out of the city and traffic will affect neighbors throughout the Galindo neighborhood.
