Notice of Changes to Land Development Code – Short Term Rentals & Preservation Bonus
You all should have received a purple postcard this week regarding proposed changes to the land development code. Since some of you have asked, we want to point out that this notice is unrelated to the development at 600 Cumberland Rd.
The first topic regards Short Term Rental (STR) regulations (e.g. Airbnb and the like). The proposed changes appear to add more restrictions, for example to require collecting a Hotel Occupancy Tax and to impose density caps on STR owners. Hearings will take place in February.
The second topic regards a “preservation bonus” that would increase allowable square footage for new homes when the existing structure is preserved, with no change to impervious coverage requirements. Hearings for this will take place in April.
If you want to learn more or provide feedback, you can head over to https://publicinput.com/dsdnotice or attend one of the upcoming public hearings.
