Meeting Minutes of March 25th, 2024
The General Meeting was held at the South Austin Rec Center and was called to order at 7:05pm by President Patty Sprinkle.
Minutes of the January General Meeting were read and approved.
Treasurer’s report was read by Lori Perry and approved.
Old Business
There was a report and update on the City’s Living Streets Program. Currently installed in the Southwood area, it seems to reduce cut through traffic, but pickleball use in the park is still a problem. The program is scheduled to continue through July.
Park Update
Parks char Sev Coursen applied for a Community Activated Park grant through the Austin Parks Foundation. The Project was approved, but only for a section of the park. Work will include ligustrum reduction.
A motion was made and approved for an earmark of $10,000 from the Austin Sponsored Fund Account, contingent on approval of the grant.
South Central Coalition Update
SCC representative Lisa McGiffert gave a report from the last SCC meeting. Topics included the proposed property at 500 S. Congress, the HOME issue, and reports that Texas AG Ken Paxton was challenging Austin’s Light Rail plan.
Communications Update
Communications Chair Heather Nelson gave an update on GENA.org. Our amazing website will soon include meeting agendas, minutes, and neighbor spotlights.
Zoning Updates
Zoning updates included a demolition notice for 2407 S. 3rd and information on Tokyo electron’s new 15 story building near 401 S 1st St.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:20 pm.
